Popper fishing is ideal to awaken the curiosity of fish. The popper is an animated surface lure with a formidable concept. The technique consists in attracting the fish with an animation imitating the escape of a small fish, hoping to escape its prey.
The muzzle of the lure is curved so that each time it is pulled from the tip of the cane, the muzzle “strikes” against the surface of the water and produces a noise, a “pop” that is totally irritating to predators which will, therefore, attack the lure. The speed of animation will be decisive. In the warm waters of Mauritius, the animation (popping) must be energetic: we will use successive rapids of the popper on the surface to catch the finest fish.
